Speaker Bio
Dr. Hyon K. Choi, is a leading clinical rheumatologist and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School as well as the Director of Clinical Epidemiology in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Director of the Gout and Crystal Arthropathy Center at the Massachusetts General Rheumatology Unit. Dr. Choi co-founded G-CAN along with Robert Terkletaub in 2015 and serves as organizations Co-Director and Treasurer.  

Dr. Choi’s current clinical rheumatology practice is focused on gout and other inflammatory rheumatic conditions, and his research interests include gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and vasculitis, as well as clinical research/epidemiology in rheumatic diseases. He has authored and co-authored well over 200 publications, including more than 60 on gout, and has been an invited speaker at conferences around the world. He has reviewed for the NIH and for editorial boards of major publications such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, and The Lancet. He is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology. 

Dr. Choi received his medical degree from Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea, and completed residency training in internal medicine at Framingham Union Hospital (University of Massachusetts) in Framingham, Massachusetts. He received his rheumatology fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and his master's and doctorate degrees in epidemiology from Harvard University.
